Interim

After Organic Developments came a period of limited color on long wide sheets of brown paper, that evolved from one painting to the next into a series of female figures, the first of which is shown here. During this time, I was very conscious of the relation of one painting to the next. The middle was first, then Tentative where I was a little more ready for what was to come, and then Woman where a definite sensibility was at work. At thist time the work was related to the Organics, but more clearly related to itself. I have used this relating, more in the newest paintings, and their closeness to the Organics is very clear and surprising to me.
